Real Estate Time Machine

There was no need for advertising in the small town of Lookeba, Oklahoma. Everyone knew everyone, and business was bustling. Memories of my childhood, sitting on stacked bags of grain at my grandpa Carl’s livestock feed store, watching him give his closest attention to each and every customer. My papa knew everyone by name, and with no cash register in the store, all transactions were recorded on a notepad with the help of a blue ink pen and a calculator.

Times were certainly different. I often think, what would my papa's reaction be if someone held up their phone and asked if he took Apple Pay? The technology may as well be from another planet. The very notion would be absurd!

My grandfather’s enthusiasm for business and community continues on in our real estate photography company. OK Real Estate Photography began on April 30th, 2013, and suddenly the memories of blue ink pens and notepads dissolved into Quickbooks and iMacs.

New tools bring new techniques for reaching consumers, but even though the tools may change, people never do. Real estate remains a relationship-driven business. It’s all about grabbing the attention of a potential client so that a new relationship may begin. With that, word of mouth is the best form of marketing, and social media is the vehicle that drives word of mouth marketing. The connectedness of social media allows realtors all over the globe to reach consumers with high level visual marketing.

When our photography business began to grow, the question realtors asked us over and over again was, "Do you do virtual tours?" We had no clue what that meant. We thought virtual tours were the 3D things you would click and drag to look at a space in 360º. It turns out, the realtors we spoke to weren't talking about 3D tours at all. They were asking for the equivalent of a 1987 PowerPoint slide show, of photos that may or may not Ken Burns across the screen to elevator music.

When I realized what they were talking about, I’m sure my face looked just like papa's would have if someone tried to swipe their iPhone over his Casio calculator. What year are we living in again?

This month, bursts onto the scene to offer a better alternative. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: the Real Estate Time Machine. Take what you do right now, put it in our system, and presto! Out pops visual marketing for today’s world. The alternatives are clunky and outdated, and your clients leave unfulfilled after having clicked on your obsolete virtual tour links.
