Want to make progress in your online real estate marketing? Set goals. Without goals you're flying blind, and that's just not going to get you anywhere.

Setting the right goals can be difficult. Start by setting SMART goals, or ones that are:

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Achievable
  • Realistic
  • Time-bound

“Well, how do I even know what goals to set? What's realistic?” A lot of that depends on you.

  • How long have you been in real estate?

It's ok to start small if you're worried you won’t meet your initial goals. The good thing about goal setting is that if you don't make it, you can always re-adjust.

It's important that you're not setting over-ambitious goals right away. If you're new to online marketing, it is going to take some time before you start seeing the results you want. It certainly doesn't happen overnight.

Keep Your Progress Steady

Start small and give yourself a win, right away. Don't fail right out of the gate, because it'll be just that much harder to motivate yourself going forward. Give yourself a small win at the outset, and I guarantee you'll want to continue.

Don't try to hit a homerun right away, either. Trying too hard to force the outcome you want can backfire, and here it can mean not keeping your efforts focused in the right way.

If you're always swinging for the fences you're going to burn out. In the same vein, pushing hard in one direction without the necessary experience can lead you down the wrong path, halting progress.

Instead, think of your marketing as a set of small experiments. Every day you try something new. Keep track of what you did, what the results were, and what you would change for next time.

In online real estate marketing, there are tried and true methods that work over and over again. See what the experts are doing, try that, and add a small something new to it for originality. You can still make discoveries, especially in a real estate industry in the midst of a massive technological shift.

Be SMART, be curious, and be consistent. You will find success in your real estate marketing.
